Cherry and Lemon Cake





It's cherry season in New Zealand at the moment. I couldn't resist trying a new recipe.
 Cherries are a family favourite and they make summer all the more special.
They taste heavenly and I just love that gorgeous ruby red colour.

I hadn't baked with cherries before so I chose a simple recipe from Taste of Home.
Made slight changes and opted out of the lemon cream cheese frosting because I wanted a light dessert.
It turned out to be a very soft and moist cake and I think the lemon brings out the flavour of the cherries.

this dessert looks diviiiiiine! and cherries are my ultimate fruity guilty pleasures. guilty because if you were to put a bowl of it in front of me...i'd eat the whole lot :D

hani hanani, I think the ones we usually see on cakes in Malaysia are preserved cherries. You can get fresh cherries from Cold Storage but they're pretty expensive.

Noor of My Life, we have all those at the moment! Summer brings out all the best fruits.

Mona, yeah! I was eating cherries one day and thought, "Hmm lemon would go so well with cherries!" lol

Ashi, I agree, it's wayyy too easy to finish a bowl of cherries by ourselves. They're so refreshing and irresistible.
