Faith Friday: Is the World an Evil Place?
{via Sufi Comics}
When you're at the brink of losing faith,
Use the ground as a place of prayer,
The air you breathe to say dhikr,
The earth to plant seeds of hope and charity,
The sky as a reminder of the vastness of His love & mercy.
Selfishness, greed, sadness and suffering,
Why did God create such things?
"To test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving." (67:2)
This world is not our destination,
It's just a means.
We were not created to love dunya,
But we were not created to hate it either.
Just like the weather,
Just like night and day,
This world is temporary,
Compared to Paradise, it's far too ordinary.
So when the going gets tough,
The tough gets serious about praying and working,
To see results they know they have to quit complaining.
I will never forget these words someone once told me, "Remember to practice gratitude."
"And remember, if you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your attitude."
